RESEARCH FELLOW

Agung is a Research Fellow for CSERM UNAS. Agung was a Visiting Fellow at RGU in 2014 working on a “Feasibility Study for the Implementation of Marine Energy in Indonesia”. He was one of the lead researchers in Indonesian – UK collaboration in marine energy development project, which was funded by British Council under its Institutional Links programme. The project was in partnership with RGU and ITS (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya). He holds degrees in Materials Engineering and his main area of research interest is in the development of appropriate material and design for renewable energy generation devices. Agung currently holds a position as a Research Fellow for GCRF Blue Communities Project – Indonesia Case Study.

Prof Dedi Soedharma

Prof. Soedharma is a marine ecologist with extensive research experience in coral biodiversity. Prof. Soedharma obtained his PhD in Marine Ecology from USTL Montpellier France in 1984. He has led numerous research projects in coral transplantations and exploration of novel bioactive metabolites from coral for pharmaceutical applications. He was a leader of Tropical Aquatic Biology SEAMEO BIOTROP and head of Centre for Environmental Research (PPLH) at IPB Bogor. He is currently active as a Board Member at The Indonesian Wildlife Conservation Foundation (IWF), a member at Indonesian Coral Reef Society (INCReS), and recently joins CSERM UNAS as an Expert Associate.

Wulan obtained her BSc in Conservation Biology Universitas Nasional in 2015. During her time as a student, she was actively involved in various student organisations such as Sea Turtle and Waterworks for Study organisation. She initiated the establishment of UNAS’ Marine Conservation Club student society, and became the first head of the student society. In writing up her final dissertation, she took a study on coral reef structure. She has also written a scientific publication on Mangrove Forest Rehabilitation Post-Damage Management. After completing her study, she has been involved in several research projects on marine conservation and sustainable livelihood, and assessment of coral reef potentials in Kepulauan Seribu National Park, Jakarta. Apart from those, she has also worked as a research assistant for WWF Ujung Kulon National Programme, and as a Science Officer and Project Scientist at Barefoot Conservation Ltd. in Raja Ampat regency, West Papua. Currently holds a research assistant position at CSERM UNAS, she is strongly interested in research on marine and coastal biodiversity conservation, education on environment and nature, restoration and rehabilitation of coral reef ecosystem, and coastal sustainable livelihood.

Dr. Tatang Mitra Setia

Dr Tatang Mitra Setia is a scientist in CSERM and a lecturer in Faculty of Biology, Universitas Nasional. He obtained a Bachelor of Biology in 1986, and continued to MSc in Ecology Community at University of Indonesia. He attained his PhD in Biology at Universitas Indonesia in 2015. Since 1988 he has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Biology UNAS, and since 2016 has also taught at the Graduate Master of Biology, the Graduate School of the UNAS. In addition to teaching, Dr Mitra Setia actively engages in activities related to: biodiversity conservation; research on biodiversity and primates; environmental education and nature conservation; community service activities around the conservation area; research on conservation and animals and primate behaviour; and active in the field of photography.
